Welcome to BCCIL!

The Buxton Climate Change Impacts Lab (BCCIL) is the longest-running climate change experiment in the UK – and one of the longest in the world. More than two decades of research have revealed changes in the grassland vegetation that were not apparent after 10 or even 15 years of climate treatments.

Thanks to support from a number of different organisations, and the sheer determination of scientists working at the site, 25 years of research at BCCIL has substantially advanced our understanding of plant community ecology and grassland ecosystem function under climate change.
